The Reds are still in the Gulkana river strong.  Over all not as many fish traveling through, however plenty to pull on for the salmon crazed fisherman.  Our guys today fount several large groups of fish. Limits were caught.

August 24, 2004
The Red salmon are here.  Three fisherman pulled on red salmon until they were too tired to cast again.  Some holes today held as many as 50 + fish.  Everyone got their limit.

The Red salmon are here.  Today our trip was fun with even the little guy getting a fish.  Patrick age 7 got his first salmon all buy his self and was able to fight several others.
 

   
     

The King Season is over now. Time for Reds on the Gulkana River.  We will be fishing the Gulkana river for the Reds all through August. The river continues to be very low, and clear.  Making it easier to see the fish.
The Red salmon are in perfect condition with this run being one of the latest in the State.

The last 2 weeks of July is awesome fishing for Kings. Today our groups caught all they wanted and and let a few fish go.

The Gulkana river has been getting more and more reds. KingFisher's Perch Guides fished for REDS and were able to find their limit in fish.  Fishing was good in a few places along a 5 mile float between Sailors Pit and the Bridge pull out.

Fishing the Klutina for Kings today was fun.  Water conditions of the Klutina now are great.  There are lots of Kings in the river and we are catching many.

We fished Reds again on the Gulkana river today.  Pockets of fish found, not as many as yesterday.  Everyone hooked fish today.

Klutina River is only getting better and better for KINGS!  Water conditions continue to get better, and more fish continue to hit the river. Late July in the Copper River Valley is some of the best salmon fishing Alaska has to offer, weather you are fishing REDS or KINGS.

Reds have made it to the Gulkana river.  Everyone got their limit today.  Getting the reds by the mouth is a trick.  Many were hooked, fun day for all!

Water conditions are perfect on the Klutina River.  We hooked fish in every hole fished today.

Our fishermen today had the option to fish and catch reds and / or Kings.  All but one decided to keep pulling on the Kings.  The one gentleman that decided to go for Sockeye (reds) was able to land 10, and kept 2 for his next few dinners.

River conditions are looking better and better. Fishing picked up some.  Today's fisherman were able to get their reds also.

Fishing slowed today, It was a very hot day. On a slow day you have to be dedicated to the river, and you will hook fish.

Largest fish today was 53 inches long with a 31 inch girth.  Weight in the mid 50 pounds!

Fishing slowed a little today, however did not matter if fishing with KINGFISHERS.  Water conditions good fish hooked as far south as 2 mile hole.

Lots of fish in the river today, Rodeo Rock was the place to be today.  It accounted for close to 25 of the hook ups.

Klutina fishing staying steady... that's great!

The big one got away today, one fish was brought up close to a boat that was guessed at close to 70lbs.  The Guides got a good look at that huge fish before the hooks pulled out and everyone cried!

We received the first RAIN in the last 3 The Gulkana River fishing is still quiet slow.  Clear water and not many Kings in the river make fishing tough.  Seeing some Red salmon, Going to move all trips to the Klutina for the remainder of the King Salmon Run.

We received the first RAIN in the last 3 weeks last night.  Not enough to change the river much, however it will not hurt it.  We need rain really bad.  Today was overcast and it helped the Fishing on the Gulkana.

Our Fisherman today were fishing with Fly Rods. It is awesome to get a KING on a Fly.

Fishing has slowed from the last few days on the Klutina.  No large pockets of fish were found today.  Lots of smoke in the air from some wildfires north of the Copper Valley.

First day of fishing Clients on the Klutina River. Got into a few great holes that held lots of fish.  The big fish of the day was 50" long and had a 28" girth.  Weighed in a 60 pounds!

Water clarity at 6 feet, no change in conditions from the last few days.  Fishing today was the roughest we have seen all year.  We plan on moving trips to the Klutina River until we get some rain.

KingFisher's Perch predicts the King Salmon fishing on the Gulkana River to be some of the best during the next weeks.

Water clarity at 24 inches. Fishing was very good in the upper river, however there was a dry spell in the middle river with several holes without any fish.  This is the first day that we have seen a wave of fish.

Kings are in on the Gulkana River!

The Ice left the Gulkana River on May 2nd between 6:30pm and 9:00pm!    
     

Another large flow of Ice came on May 3rd at 4pm, Ice continued to flow until 5pm.  All the Ice is out now, rafting trips are to begin on May 10th.

   
     

   
     

A normal year we catch the first King Salmon 30 days after the ice leaves the rivers.  We are predicting the first Kings to be caught on June 2nd or 3rd!
