Just scroll down and find the date you are thinking about coming to Alaska and you can see what last years fishermen did during that date.

August and September are the time to fish Rainbows over Spawning Salmon in the Upper Gulkana.

Check out the Rainbows and Grayling trip!

The Red Salmon were late this year, almost a full 3 weeks.  The Red Salmon fishing did not get really good until around August 20th.  But when they cam in they came in thick.  For the most part the Red Salmon fishing season starts in late July and goes through part of September.

August 24, 2005
The Red salmon are here.  Three fisherman pulled on red salmon until they were too tired to cast again.  Some holes today held as many as 50 + fish.  Everyone got their limit.

The King Season is over now. Time for Reds on the Gulkana River.  We will be fishing the Gulkana river for the Reds all through August.
The Red salmon are in perfect condition with this run being one of the latest in the State.

The end of the season is shown at the top, because of the way it is intered in during the summer.  We keep the most current information at the top.

July 31, 2005
Today was the last day of the King Salmon Season on the Klutina River.  The fish are still there, they just need to be left alone to spawn and continue to bring many more for years to come.

Fishing for more than one day helps a lot with your landing to hooking ratio.  You will be much better at landing these beasts after a few days of practice.

Scott and Gavin with a very nice King pulled out of the "Log Hole" on the Klutina River.  This trip the Kings killed averaged almost 50 pounds!

July 29, 2005
We are in the Peak of the run on the Klutina for Kings.  There are lots of Kings in the river and we are catching many.  It is hard to describe fishing the Klutina River for Kings in Late July!

8 Hook Ups: 28 Landed: 13 Kept: 6

This fish was caught by Gavin, he just allowed me to display it for the picture.  This King broke the 50 pound digital scale.  To give you a idea on how large it really is, the length of this fish was 53 inches, and the girth 34inches.  This was the thickest fish caught in the 2005 season!

Every now and then the "Boss" gets to go fishing.  This is Jaime's Biggest king ever, and I was happy to help her hold it!

Ryan Haden from California had a very special trip this year.  He is a candidate from the "Make A Wish" Foundation.  Ryan was able to fulfill his dream of catching a Copper River King Salmon.  Ryan caught 6 Kings in the 2 days of fishing with KingFisher's Perch.

July 8, 2005
Today we sent the Red salmon fishermen down the Klutina and the people that preferred to fight the Kings stayed on the Gulkana.  Everyone had stories to tell at the end of the day!

See the yellow tag is the back of this large Gulkana King Salmon? Fish and Game tag  2.5 % of the Copper river run of Kings, when they hit the mouth of the Copper River on their way up.  To catch a tagged fish is rare, and the tag tends to be a unique trophy!

Starting in the early mourning is one of the reasons fishing with KingFisher's Perch will catch you more fish.  We are out before the other guides catching more fish.  Lots of times the air is cooler than the water in the early mourning.  This produces a mist that creates a beautiful sun rise! (3:30am)

If you would like some more information on the Copper River Float trip to Cordova check out.  Trip of a Lifetime

Floating down the Copper River in May is a great way to see Alaska.  Bears, Eagles, Moose, Wolves and many other Alaskan wildlife are commonly seen on this trip.

Not Long After the Ice goes out in the Gulkana The Copper River becomes safe to float, and the first  "Trip of a Lifetime" begins.

The Ice left the Gulkana River on April 27th, this is one of the earlier breakups We have seen.

A normal year we catch the first King Salmon 30 days after the ice leaves the rivers.  Fish and Game opens the Gulkana River to bait on June 1st.  We believe that the first Kings will be caught June 1st.

KingFisher's Perch Guides are always the first on the Gulkana river.
Check out these crazy guides tempting the frigid Gulkana waters.

Please don't be discouraged. Give us a few more weeks and we will have green river banks.

The luxury of living in the Copper River Valley!

8' tall ice along the river banks!
What a Great Backyard!

The guides at KingFisher's Perch are excited to show you part of their way of life.
